This Girl Codes
A three year project called This Girl Codes aims to encourage the take up of STEM subjects in school with a focus on encouraging female students to study these traditionally male subjects. Tibshelf School Paralympic Day
Tibshelf Infant and Nursery School welcomed a number of former Paralympic and disabled athletes to their school recently as they held a sports fun day with a difference. The children took part in a variety of disability sports such as wheelchair basketball, blind football, boccia and sitting volleyball along with golf, rugby and tennis. This is the fifth time the school have held such an inclusive day.

Tibshelf Green Bunch
The Tibshelf Green Bunch have been planting flowers around the village to brighten up the area and bring a bit of cheer. Shirebrook Colliery Memorial Fund
Shirebrook pit closed almost thirty years ago in 1993, but two former miners are on a mission to raise £180,000 to erect a memorial in the town's market square.

Blackwell Wood Sculptures
If you walk along the Blackwell Trail you may come across some rather large wooden sculptures. A miner, a bell, a miners' lamp and a bird bath on top of a tree are just some of the sculptures that have been designed by local people and carved out of wood by sculptor Andrew Frost.
Led by Platform 31, a women-led organisation working across the arts, culture, community and education sectors in the East Midlands, the designs are based on the local heritage, community and wildlife in the area.

B@Home Completion

Hardwick Hall - fundraising pin badges

Hardwick Hall tapestry restoration
The National Trust's longest running conservation project has taken an important step forward as the twelfth tapestry out of a set of thirteen has been returned to Hardwick Hall.
The 'Gideon Attacking the Midianites' tells part of the story of Gideon from the biblical book of Judges. It measures 5.7 by 8.5 metres and has been in the care of specialist textile conservators for a number of years.
The work on this tapestry alone has cost £278,000 which has been provided by a private donor.

Pinxton joined in the World's Biggest Coffee Morning on Saturday 28 September in aid of MacMillan Cancer to help raise vital funds for the charity and they raised a total of £700.

Bolsover's Greatest Show
Originally built as a hilltop pleasure-palace of captivating Cavalier William Cavendish, spectacular illuminations and entertainment bought Bolsover Castle back to life. A carnival atmosphere with courtly performers, jesters and fire breathers entertained the guests royally against the backdrop of the castle lit up in spectacular colourful lights.

Bolsover TV has been launched by Bolsover District Council. We make fortnightly programmes about what's happening in the area that promote our communities, attractions, groups and businesses.
We also create fab films aimed at keeping our local residents informed, promoting what is going on within our local communities, attracting visitors to the area and encouraging businesses to invest in our district.
